San Diego, CA
Nestled in San Diego’s Wooded Area, Wooded Strings takes its name from the neighborhood and a playful nod to one of the clients’ favorite musicians. Music and entertaining are central to their lives, with a home that regularly comes alive with friends, conversation, and concerts streamed live on TV. The goal was to create warm, inviting spaces that reflect their personalities, bringing together their colorful art, collected treasures, and lush greenery while working within a modest budget and the limitations of a rental property.
The transformation came through thoughtfully sourced furnishings, creative repurposing of existing pieces, layered textures, warm woods, soft linen drapery, and intentional lighting. Mid-century influences and a relaxed, neutral foundation bring cohesion to the spaces while allowing their vibrant artwork and extensive plant collection to shine.
Equally important was creating a home that felt comfortable and lived-in, with durable, pet-friendly furnishings and practical choices throughout. The result is a personal, eclectic mix of old and new that feels collected over time rather than designed all at once.
